College Independence Scale for Educators

College readiness is often determined based on how much direct support is needed for students to perform both academic and daily living tasks. Direct Support can be defined as when professionals, parents, or other support resources provide individualized assistance to guide the student in starting, continuing, or completing a task. It is critical to evaluate a student’s level of direct support in preparation for reduced access to support systems in college.

The College Independence Scale Teacher’s Assessment is designed for their teacher to evaluate the student’s level of functioning across important skill areas that impact post-secondary success.
